Let me cover some things that have happened in the past 3 months..
First, about a week before I was to report back to school, my principal told me that I was moving up to first grade. After waiting all spring and summer to hear this, she now wants my belongings moved down the hall and set up a new room. My family was not amused when I told them we would have some family bonding time moving all of my "Junk" as they call it. We got move in a few days when the temperature is 100 degress. But the teacher whose room I was moving into didn;t show up until the first day for teachers, so I couldn't really put anything away. Oh and the district wanted us to spend the whole week away from our buildings in PD! So that meant going back to school from PD and working late trying to get the room in order. And there was an Open House scheduled for the Friday evening. My Principal came into my room and said she thought is was looking better and she had some concerns I wouldn't get it together in time. It took every bit of composure I had not to tell her off. Had I known what and where I would be teaching weeks or months before school started, I wouldn't be half crazy now. That woman- more on her later.
I got to keep my students from Kindergarten and they were thrilled to have me again as their teacher. The sad part is 3 of my darling girls transferred to other districts. :(
So now I have 10 boys and 5 girls. I think having more than 8 boys in a class should be illegal. at the ages of 6 and 7, little boys remind me of baby goats at the petting zoo. Boisterious, loud, and full of themselves.
I have 4 new students that added some more spice to the room. More on that later.
We got through Parent Conferences and Fall Party (can't have Halloween parties with this principal but she can walk around the school with paint and ponytails all over her head because there was a book reading challenge and she lost. Talk about scary looking!) So now we are in the fun month of Nov. where we have holidays and no school for the last 2 weeks of Dec. With this group of students I might be able to finish my song "The Kindergarten Teacher went beserk 2 days before Christmas Eve". I'm sure I'll have plenty of material for my song. Keep in touch!
I will be starting my 26th year of teaching and hope to gain more knowledge, rant, rave, and write about my crazy life as a wife, mother, and teacher.

Still Nervous after 43 First Days of School!
In 2 weeks I will start school for the 43rd time of my life! This week instead of doing fun things or working on my naps, I will be ruminating about what grade I'll be given to teach this year. You see, my district decided to add gifted education programs in our building for preschool and kindergarten. But none of the teachers in our building are certified for gifted ed. Most of us have taken 2 classes towards the additional certification but still need to take 2-4 more classes. The parents want teachers who already hold gifted certif. and also hold early childhood certification, not too many of those around. So what does the principal do? Tells us she knows very litttle about what is going on. There will be no changes or lots of changes. This has been happening since April. I just want to scream "WTH!!!" Will I have to move into a new room and pack up 10 years worth of teaching supplies and learn a new curriculum? Will I be able to stay in my class and teach gifted kindergarteners? regular ed kindergartners?
Some times I wish I had a crystal ball and could see into the future. Maybe then my heartburn would go away!
